Elected Officials,  Community Partners Celebrate Groundbreaking for Affordable Housing Development - Mar 8, 2022 - Clark County Commissioner McCurdy II, City of Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman, Councilwoman Olivia Diaz, representatives with Neighborhood Housing Services of Southern Nevada (NHSSN) and builders shoveled dirt recently to mark the start of construction on The Golden Rule Senior Apartments affordable housing project for low-to-moderate income seniors in the east valley. The senior apartments will consist of 60 units and is expected to be ready in 2023.

Black History Monty in Clark County - Feb. 1, 2022 - In recognition of the 28 days in February when Black History Month is celebrate, Clark County Commissioner William McCurdy II led the charge in recognizing the contributions of Blacks in Clark County. The programming aired on Clark County television (CCTV 4) in February spotlights the history, contributions and lives of Blacks who lived in Las Vegas and shaped the community. From a panel discussion moderated by Commissioner McCurdy II to the program, "Invisible Las Vegas," you can see and learn about Blacks in Las Vegas and how members of this community shaped our valley.

The Legacy, The History: Celebrating Black History Month - Feb. 1, 2022 - “The Legacy, The History: Celebrating Black History Month,” moderated by Clark County Commissioner William McCurdy, features Claytee White, director of the UNLV Oral History Research Center; Ramon Savoy, a former host on urban contemporary radio station KCEP Power 88 and former publisher of Nevada’s only African-American newspaper, the Las Vegas Sentinel-Voice, whose publication ceased in 2014; Brenda Williams, a one-time Las Vegas city councilwoman who inspired a book about her experience as a student at the Historic Westside School, which was built in 1923 and closed in 1967 with the end of desegregation; and Jackie Brantley, who has served on multiple boards, was born in Las Vegas and grew up blocks from the once-bustling Jackson Street, a former business and community hub for historic West Las Vegas. Taped at Historic Westside Legacy Park, the special is a production of Clark County Television. The park, funded by Clark County, is a tribute to those who have led the Historic Westside community through the years and features 36 individuals with historical and biographical information on-site. Art is featured throughout the park, including a statue of former President Barack Obama.

Hispanic Youth Leadership Summit Hosted - Nov 2, 2021-  Clark County Commissioner William McCurdy II hosted the 2021 Hispanic Youth Leadership Summit at the West Las Vegas Library Theatre campus during Hispanic Heritage Month. The day exposed youth to workshops, keynote speeches and more. They learned about the vast history of the Hispanic culture in the Las Vegas Valley and were encouraged to use lessons from the past to build on their futures.
