The Federal Lands Program influences the quality of life in Clark County by monitoring and coordinating activities on federal land that impact the environment, urban development or the economy.  It coordinates federal land management agencies that administer land in Clark County and monitors planning and other National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) related actions.

Of the 5.14 million acres within the County, 4.53 million acres (88%) is administered by the Federal Government:
  • 2.63 million acres (51%) by the Bureau of Land Management
  • 584,000 acres (11%) by the National Park Service
  • 517,000 acres (10%) by the US Fish & Wildlife Service
  • 389,000 acres (7.5%) by the Department of Defense
  • 280,000 acres (5.5%) by the USDA Forest Service
  • 80,500 acres (1.5%) by the Bureau of Indian Affairs
  • 46,500 acres (1%) by the Bureau of Reclamation
  • 4,000 acres (<1%) by the Department of Energy
