Vote by Mail Ballot:
As of 2022, Nevada has all-mail ballot elections. All voters who are registered to vote no later than 14 days before Election Day will receive a mail ballot whether or not they requested one unless they opt-out.
- Opt-Out: To opt-out, you must submit a “Mail Ballot written or online Preference Form” to request that you not receive a mail ballot. The Nevada Secretary of State will provide the online option and the Election Department will immediately receive the request. The Election Department must receive all requests no later than 60 days before Election Day.
Vote In-Person:
You may still vote in person instead on a voting machine at any one of the many convenient early voting sites or Election Day vote centers, even if you receive a mail ballot. No matter where you live or what your precinct is, you may vote at any Clark County voting site you choose. An early voting schedule and any Election Day vote center listing will be in your mail ballot packet, in your sample ballot, and online at www.ClarkCountyNV.gov/voteIf you do not opt-out of mail ballot voting and vote in person instead of by mail:
- If you have your mail ballot with you, you must surrender it at the voting site.
- If you do have your mail ballot with you, you must sign an affirmation not that you are not voting twice in the same election.
Know When to Vote:
-
Early voting sites are less crowded at the beginning of the early voting period and generally during the mid-afternoon and evenings for the entire early voting period.
-
Election Day Vote Centers are less crowded mid-morning or mid-afternoon and are open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
-
Voters in line when the polls close will be allowed to vote.
Confirm No Issues Exist:
Make sure that you are actually registered to vote and that your name, address, and party affiliation are current.
Get One If You Don’t Have One:
-
Login to Registered Voter Services and select View My Sample Ballot from the dropdown menu to access your sample ballot online (after it becomes available for online viewing).
-
Call (702) 455-VOTE (8683) or send an e-mail if you lost or did not receive your sample ballot at least 10 days before Election Day and want us to mail you another one.
Study, Mark and Bring Your Sample Ballot to the Polls:
Don’t wait until you are in the voting booth to make your decisions.
Refer to Your Sample Ballot When Voting:
On touch-screen voting machines, all offices and questions that sequentially display will match your sample ballot. If you don’t have your sample ballot, ask a poll worker for one.
Plan Ahead:
If you decide to vote in person instead of by mail, choose an early voting site or Election Day Vote Center that is most convenient for you. In your sample ballot, use the early voting schedule or Vote Center listing, and when available the foldout map. For more details, see our page on "Election Day Voting." Or, call the Election Department at (702) 455-VOTE (8683) if you need assistance.
Assistance:
Immediately notify a poll worker upon entering the polling place, or at any time while voting, if you need assistance.
Start the Voting Process by Signing-In:
Upon arriving at the site, go to any of the check-in stations to be signed in. Your eligibility and signature will be verified before you are allowed to vote. It is always a good idea to bring picture identification with you when you vote. The election clerk will announce your name (and party in Primary Elections), as required by Nevada law.
Same-Day Registration Online or In-Person:
If you registered online on the Secretary of State's website after the standard close of registration (Same-Day Registration Online) or you plan to register in-person at an early voting or Election Day voting site (Same-Day Registration In-Person), you must show acceptable identification at the voting site. If the address on your identification is not where you currently live, you will also need to show proof of residence. For details, see our web page on same-day registration and same-day updates.
Know How to Use the Voting Machines:
Study the instructions in your sample ballot, follow poll worker directions and ask questions if you don’t understand anything.
