CLARK COUNTY FIRE DEPARTMENT RURAL DIVISION

The Clark County Fire Department occupies an area of 8,012 square miles and has the largest paid fire department (30 stations) and the largest volunteer force (10 stations). Clark County volunteer firefighters responded to over 1500 incident calls in 2020.  Because of the growing responses by the Rural Division, the Clark County Fire Department is reaching out to Clark County residents to become volunteer firefighters and/or Emergency Medical Services personnel.

Serve as a Volunteer Firefighter
Becoming a Clark County volunteer firefighter is one of the most rewarding and selfless decisions you can make.   The duties of a volunteer firefighter include putting out fires and performing a multitude of important tasks to keep others safe, maintaining the equipment, and ensuring the department can continue serving our rural communities.

To better understand if becoming a volunteer firefighter is for you, ask yourself these questions:  

• Are you willing to give up an occasional full night of rest or work long hours to help others?
• Do you find it important to give back to the community in meaningful ways that pay it forward?
• Are you looking for a community of others who enjoy helping people in times of fear or loss?

If you answered “yes” to these questions, you may be an excellent fit for a career as a volunteer firefighter for Clark County. 

Volunteer firefighters are assigned to one of the following stations:
Trout Canyon          ST 70	Bunkerville               ST 71
Searchlight              ST 75	Sandy Valley            ST 77
Goodsprings            ST 78	Mountain Springs     ST 79
Blue Diamond          ST 80	Cold Creek               ST 82
Indian Springs         ST 83	Cal-Nev-Ari               ST 84

Minimum Requirements for Volunteer Firefighter positions:

• Individuals must have a High School Diploma or GED equivalent
• Possess a valid Class C Nevada Driver’s License
• Have the following certifications: 

• • CPR
  • AED
  • EMT (Basic, Advanced, Paramedic)

Desirable Licenses/Certifications

• Nevada Class B with F endorsement driver’s license
• Firefighter 1 (IFSAC)
• Hazardous Materials Awareness (IFSAC)
• Hazardous Materials Operations (IFSAC)

Pre-Volunteer Acceptance Testing

• Must successfully pass an oral interview
• Must successfully pass a background investigation
• Must successfully pass a physical examination

In addition to the above requirements, you must also be able to commit to 24 hours of volunteer service a month for a minimum of two (2) years.
