Traffic Citations
If you have been issued a traffic citation, verify that Henderson Justice Court is the correct jurisdiction by looking near the top of the citation for the name of the court. The issuance date is also located near the top of the citation. It often takes two weeks after the issuance date for the Court to receive the citation.
The passage of Assembly Bill 116 of the 81st Legislative Session created two categories of traffic citations: civil and criminal. It is necessary to identify which type of citation you received, so you may take appropriate action to resolve the citation. Additionally, traffic citations are time sensitive and may require that you take action to pay or contest the citation prior to the response/appearance date.
Pay Traffic Citations
If you do not wish to contest the traffic citation, and the citation is for a violation that does not require a court appearance, you may pay the traffic citation online or in person. If you wish to contest the traffic citation, you must make the request in person at the customer service windows of the Court prior to making a payment.
Juveniles: Citations issued to juveniles (those under 18 years at the time of the offense) are not eligible for online payments. All juveniles must appear at the Court with a parent or legal guardian.
Pay Online: Pay traffic citations online at the website link below. By paying your citation online you are waiving your right to contest the citation.

Pay In Person: Payments may be made at the court by cash, VISA©, MASTERCARD®, or DISCOVER® card, check, money order or cashier’s check. All transactions made by credit or debit card require the person whose name is on the card to be present with identification. Henderson Justice Court does NOT accept AMERICAN EXPRESS®.
Pay by Phone: Henderson Justice Court does not have the ability to take payments over the phone.
Disclaimer: Not all charges are eligible to be paid online. If a charge is not displayed when you search the payment portal, contact the court directly.
Contest Civil Infraction
Civil Infraction Citations require that you pay the citation in full or request an in person hearing to contest the citation within 90-calendar days from the date the citation was issued.
If you wish to contest the Civil Infraction Citation you must make the request in person at the customer service windows of the Henderson Justice Court prior to paying the citation. Additionally, you must post bond at the customer service windows in the amount of the civil penalty, administrative assessments, and fees at the time of requesting the hearing (NRS 484A.7041). Personal checks are not accepted for bond. Failure to complete both the request for hearing and post the required bond on or before the 90-calendar day response date will be treated as if you took no action to respond to the civil infraction citation and the Court will find that you committed the civil infraction.
Important: If you request a hearing and post the bond, and then fail to appear at the hearing to contest the Civil Infraction Citation you waive your right to appeal the judgment.
Contest Traffic Misdemeanor
If you desire to contest a Traffic Misdemeanor Citation, you must make the request in person at the customer service windows of the Henderson Justice Court prior to paying the citation. You must sign a Not Guilty Plea and Waiver to schedule a pre-trial conference with a Deputy District Attorney. The pre-trial conferences are typically scheduled once a month on a Thursday afternoon.
Attend Traffic Safety School
If you were cited for a moving violation that carries four demerit points or less, you may be eligible for a reduction of demerit points if you complete a DMV approved Traffic Safety School Course. You are not eligible for a Traffic Safety School demerit points reduction if you have a Commercial Driver’s License (pursuant to 49 CFR § 384.226). Additionally, you are not eligible to take a Traffic Safety School course for a demerit points reduction if you have taken a Traffic Safety School course for demerit points reduction within the last 12 months.
Visit the court in person or contact the court to request Traffic Safety School. Make sure you choose a DMV approved course or you will not qualify for a demerit points reduction.
