Commissioner Tick Segerblom and the Clark County Public Arts Office will dedicate a semi-temporary transit-themed public art project on the fences along the bridge on Maryland Parkway at Flamingo Wash near Maryland Parkway and Flamingo Road.  The dedication will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 23, at 11 a.m. 

 “This project is part of the Bus Rapid Transit route that travels along Maryland Parkway,” said Commissioner Segerblom.  “Public art adds value and identity to a community.  Having art on this route in the heart of our urban center helps beautify the area.”        

In April of 2019, the RTC Board of Commissioners voted to move forward with an 8.7-mile Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) route that will link activity centers from McCarran International Airport in the south to Las Vegas Medical District in the North.  The project will include enhanced transit stations, dedicated lanes, upgraded pedestrian crossings, bike lanes, wider sidewalks, median landscaping, and public art.

The Maryland Parkway Fence Art project is by artists Valentin Yordanov and art team Holl Lay and Homero Hidalgo under the supervision of the Clark County’s Public Arts Office.  It spans six-segment fences on the Maryland Parkway Bridge over the Tropicana Wash.  Installations will be available to view starting Wednesday, Nov. 17.
