Leaders of the Future

The Leaders of the Future program is sponsored by the Clark County Department of Parks and Recreation for teens 13-17 years of age. The objective of the program is to create and maintain high standards of education, character, citizenship and skill development to meet the future leadership needs of the community. Teen Leaders will focus on service to the community, leadership development, job training and social recreation.    

Eligibility
Boys and girls ages 13-17 may apply to be Teen Leaders. They must not have a history of discipline problems in Clark County programs, and must not have been suspended or expelled from school during the current school year (or previous school year when applying for summer positions).      

Application Process
All applicants must complete, sign, and turn in the Leaders if the Future application. They must then complete an interview with the Center’s Leader of the Future supervisor. Applicants will be selected based on their written application, interview performance, and availability of open positions in the program.  

Schedules

New teen leaders can volunteer a maximum of 15 hours per week, during the school year. During vacation periods, they may work a maximum of 20 hours per week.

Fun Zone

Fun Zone is a Free supervised after-school recreational-based program for children in kindergarten thru fifth grades (ages 6-12), conducted at Hollywood Recreational Center. Fun Zone is offered daily after school during the school year from school dismissal until 6 p.m.  The main focus of Fun Zone is to provide Free recreational activities both indoors and out doors along with arts & crafts, tournaments, sports and movies. Time permitted some Homework assistance may be provided. Please note, all movies are rated “G” or “PG,” and the title will be posted prior to showing. Please notify a staff member if you do not want your child to watch an upcoming movie. All participants must be registered prior to participating, parents are required to complete information waivers. Once registered participants may check themselves in and out of the program.  

Teen Scene is a Free supervised after-school recreational-based program geared toward students in grades 6th thru 12th grades (ages 12 –17), conducted at Hollywood Recreation Center. Teen Scene is offered daily after school during the school year from school dismissal until 6 p.m.  Teen Basketball also operates daily in conjunction with Teen Scene and concludes at 5:30 p.m. The overall goal for Teen Scene is to provide a safe, secure, non-threatening environment for teenagers to interact with each other. All participants must be registered prior to participating, parents are required to complete information waivers. Once registered participants may check themselves in and out of the program.
