Bruce Isaacson was the first Poet Laureate of Clark County, Nevada, a community of two million souls that encompasses Las Vegas and the Las Vegas Strip. He earned degrees from Claremont McKenna, Dartmouth, and Brooklyn College where he wrote a thesis for noted American poet Allen Ginsberg. He is a founder of Zeitgeist Press (150+ titles) and Poetry Promise, a 501c3 which sponsors literary programs in Clark County.  He is known in New York as a finalist in the inaugural Nuyorican Poetry Slam. In SF, he was associated with the raucous 1980s Spoken Word resurgence at the Cafe Babar (“gladiator school for poets”). He has lived in Michoacán, Mexico, NYC, LA, Berkeley-San Francisco, Leningrad, Russia, and now runs a Saturday afternoon reading in Las Vegas, Nevada.
