Clark County Parks & Recreation and Clark County Public Arts presents ZAP! 13
Back in August of 2022, Clark County Public Arts opened the call for ZAP! 13 and received an outstanding amount of submissions. ZAP! 13 will be located along Blue Diamond Road, from Fort Apache to Dean Martin. Twelve traffic light cabinets on the corners of the main intersections will be painted by twelve different artists.
In October of 2022, a group of community leaders juried 46 submissions from local artists. The top twelve artists were then recognized with the highest scores because of their unique styles, thoughtful designs, and connection to the Blue Diamond community.
Selected artists: Aaron Cowan, Said Gomez, Homero Hidalgo, Stormi Holt, Bonnie Kelso, Lee Lanier, Tracy P. Martin, Doris Martinez, Jimi Ramirez, Rebecca Sullinger, Kayla Talastas, and Jamie Zepeda.
Painting of ZAP! 13 began January 9, 2023 and was completed on February 20, 2023.
Dedication Event
ZAP 13 hosted a dedication event on Friday, February 24th at the Enterprise library in collaboration with Commissioner Justin Jones and his staff. During the event, the ZAP 13 artists had an open discussion with Commissioner Jones, Clark County Public Art Cultural Supervisor Mickey Sprott, and a special guest LV-CC Library District Gallery Service Manager, Darren Johnson. The group discussed future projects in Clark County, resources for artists, and feedback on previous projects.
Commissioner Jones and his staff provided the event with the venue and the food from a local empanada food truck YourPanadas.
Special thanks to Commissioner Justin Jones, Clark County Art Committee, Clark County Public Works, ZAP 13 Jury Panel, and the community.
ZAP! is funded by Percent for the Arts and made possible by Clark County Parks and Recreation.
