CALL FOR ARTWORK FOR ROTUNDA GALLERY
This call is for Reassembly Required Juried Exhibition

We are pleased to announce a call for art for our newest exhibition, Reassembly Required.

Collage and assemblage, art that uses the reassembling of things together to create a new work of art. Collage works in the second dimension while assemblage lives in the third. Sometimes both practices dismantle things, but the main action used is assembly. What does it mean to take things apart? ex. Cutting up photographs and fabric or taking the head off an action figure. What does it mean to put things together? ex. Taking those photographs and fabric and layering them together on wood or placing the action figure head on top of some needle-nose pliers. Artists should make work that seeks to destroy things, but in the end, there will be Reassembly Required.

Jurying this exhibition is Jeannie Hua. She graduated from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago with an MFA in 2022. She currently has a solo show at Core Contemporary, one of the fifteen exhibits taking place in Las Vegas, Montreal, Toronto, Lyon, Paris, Mexico City, and Bahamas as part of Post Invisibles 2024 Biennial. Her solo show, Tailings, just concluded at Barrick Museum’s Window Gallery. She taught collage making at Ox-Bow School of Art for their Art in the Meadows Workshops. Her mixed medias and collages were shown in NYC, Chicago, and Las Vegas. She also had a solo show at College of Southern Nevada’s ArtSpace Gallery and became adjunct faculty in Art History there. She has participated in group exhibitions in galleries and museums in Nevada, New York, Illinois, California, Michigan, Virginia, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Utah, Tennessee, Oregon, and Orquevaux, France. She was the recipient of the Denis Diderot Grant, Nevada Council of Arts Grant, as well as merit scholarship to Oxbow School of Art.
