The Special Public Defender’s Office is appointed to Category A Felony and Murder cases by the Office of Appointed Counsel in cases for which the Public Defender’s Office has a conflict of interest. Our attorneys cannot be hired privately
No, we are not. If you have been appointed an attorney from the Public Defender's Office to represent you, they are available at (702) 455-4685.
Our attorneys cannot offer legal advice to the public. We are limited to the legal representation of our clients after they have been appointed.
If the Special Public Defender's Office has been appointed by the Court, can you talk to my family and friends about my case?
Ethical rules require that we maintain professional confidentiality regarding your case. We can only discuss matters that have already been made public in Court proceedings.
I am in law school and would like to intern/extern at your office. Can I do that?
Yes, send a letter of interest and resume to our office, and someone will contact you. If you are a student at UNLV Boyd School of Law, you should contact the extern coordinator.
I am interested in applying for employment at the Special Public Defenders Office; how do I do that ?
All openings for employment with the office are handled through the Human Resources Department of Clark County. Visit the website for announcements on available positions and how to apply.
