2020 FEDERAL/STATE ELECTIONS Federal/State Elections are in even-numbered years. The Primary Election is the second Tuesday in June of each even-numbered year. The General Election date is the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November.

December 30, 2019 Monday	Last Day for Candidates for Partisan Offices to Change Affiliation with a Major Party: No person may be a candidate of a major political party for partisan office in 2020 if he or she changed political affiliation to Democrat or Republican on a Voter Registration Application in Nevada or in any other state after December 30, 2019. January 2-June 5, 2020 Weekdays, 8am-5pm (closed Saturday, Sunday and Holidays)	Independent Candidate Petition Filing: Period during which an independent candidate must submit his or her petition of candidacy to the appropriate filing officer for verification. PRESIDENTIAL CAUCUSES Pursuant to Nevada law, Nevada does not conduct Primary Elections to select Presidential candidates. Instead, major political parties will hold caucuses in the beginning of 2020. The political parties determine the dates, times, and locations of the caucuses and deadlines by which to be registered to attend. The Clark County Election Department is not involved in the conduct of caucuses.Directly contact your party for information about caucuses, including their registration requirements and deadlines. JUNE 9, 2020, PRIMARY ELECTION (FEDERAL/STATE) AND SAME-DAY REGISTRATION From 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Election Day, ANY Clark County registered voter may cast their ballot at ANYClark County Vote Center of their choice. Starting in 2020, same-day registration (registering and voting on Election Day or during Early Voting), as well as immediate updates of existing registration (name, party, and address) will also be available at all of our voting sites. A Primary Election is a preliminary (nominating) election to select, when necessary, Democratic, Republican, and nonpartisan candidates who will run in the General Election contests (except special district candidates as they only appear in the General Election). The direct vote of the people selects the candidates, rather than votes of convention delegates. Nevada has CLOSED Primary Elections(NRS 293.257). The Primary Election must be held on the second Tuesday in June of each even-numbered year (NRS 293.175(1)). Starting in 2020, at any Clark County Election Day Vote Center or at any early voting site, you may: (1) Register in-person and vote (same-day registration), but you must show a current and valid (unexpired) Nevada’s Driver’s License or Nevada State Identification card with the current address where you actually live, or if the address is not current, you must additionally provide other proof of residence; or (2) Immediately update your existing registration, including name, party, and address changes, and then vote a ballot for your new precinct and/or party, as applicable. (Sections 5.9, 8, and 9 of AB345 of the 2019 Legislative Session).
May 12, 2020 Tuesday	Close of Mail-In and In-Person Standard Registration:Last day to register to vote or to update your existing registration by mail or in-person at the Election Department offices. (NRS 293.560 as amended by Section 64 of AB345, 2019 Legislative Session) Due Date for FPCA Submittals by Postal Mail: Military and overseas residents must submit FPCAs (Federal Post Card Applications) sent by postal mail for the June 9, 2020 State/Federal Primary Election no later May 12, 2020 (postmark date) to register to vote or update existing registration, and to request a mail/absentee ballot.
May 13-June 4, 2020 Wednesday-Thursday	Online Registration and Updates, New Registrants Must Show ID When Signing In to Vote in the Current Election: Register to vote or update your existing registration ONLY on the Secretary of State's website and be eligible to vote in the current election with your new registration or with updated information for your existing registration. New Registrants may not vote by mail/absentee ballot in the current election. When new registrants check-in to vote, they must show a current and valid (unexpired) Nevada Driver’s License or Nevada State Identification card with an address that matches the one in the online registration. If the address does not match, they must additionally show other proof of residency. (Section 6 of AB345, 2019 Legislative Session, and NRS 293.565(7)) Starting May 20, the Election Dept. is NOT legally required to send you a sample ballot for the current election for your new online registration or with updated information for your existing registration. May 23-June 5, 2020 Saturday-Friday	Early Voting (14 Days) and In-Person Same Day Registration at any Early Voting Site, Hours and Days Vary by Location: Any voter registered in Clark County may vote at any early voting site within the County. You may also register and vote (same-day registration) or immediately update your existing registration (including name, address, and party) at any early voting site. Same-day registrants must show a current and valid (unexpired) Nevada Driver’s License or Nevada State Identification card with the current address where they actually live. May 26, 2020 Tuesday, 5pm	Mail/Absentee Ballot Request Deadline: Last day for the Election Department to RECEIVE WRITTEN mail ballot requests. If you registered online on or after May 13, you may not vote by mail/absentee ballot in the current election. (NRS 293.313 as amended by Section 43 of AB345 of the 2019 Legislative Session).
June 2, 2020 Tuesdayï¿½€‹	ï¿½€‹Due Date for FPCA Submittals by E-Mail or Fax: Military and overseas residents must submit an FPCA sent by e-mail or fax for the June 9, 2020 State/Federal Primary Election no later than June 2, 2020 (transmission date) to register to vote or update existing registration, and to request a mail/absentee ballot.

ELECTRONIC TRANSMISSION (E-MAIL OR FAX) BY MILITARY AND OVERSEASA VOTERS: The Election Department must RECEIVE in its office electronically transmitted voted FPCA mail/absentee ballots no later than 7:00 p.m. on Election Day in order for the ballot to be counted.

NOVEMBER 3, 2020, GENERAL ELECTION (FEDERAL/STATE) AND SAME-DAY REGISTRATION From 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Election Day, ANY Clark County registered voter may cast their ballot at ANYClark County Vote Center of their choice. Starting in 2020, same-day registration (registering and voting on Election Day or during Early Voting), as well as immediate updates of existing registration (name, party, and address) will also be available at all of our voting sites. Candidates who receive the most votes in a General Election are elected to office. You may vote for all offices and questions on the ballot for your precinct, regardless of your party affiliation. A General Election must be held throughout the State on the first Tuesday after the first Monday of November in each even-numbered year. (NRS 293.12755) Starting in 2020, at any Clark County Election Day Vote Center or at any early voting site, you may: (1) Register in-person and vote (same-day registration), but you must show a current and valid (unexpired) Nevada’s Driver’s License or Nevada State Identification card with the current address where you actually live, or if the address is not current, you must additionally provide other proof of residence; or (2) Immediately update your existing registration, including name, party, and address changes, and then vote a ballot for your new precinct.
