In this TPOP case the youth's mother shared her experience with the program, highlighting the challenges she faced as a single parent and the significant impact the program had on her son's life. She noted that before engaging with the program, her son was dealing with serious issues, including running away, mental health struggles, and school fights. However, with the support provided especially the mentorship and the persistent efforts of Community Navigator, Jessica Young, there was a noticeable improvement in her son's attendance and behavior. The program not only helped address his immediate issues but also facilitated his successful completion of summer school, which was a major milestone. Overall, the mother expressed gratitude for the program's role in providing stability and positive change in her son's life:
I would like to start this by saying thank you so much, this program has been such a blessing to me and my family. I am a single mother with no family in the whole state of Nevada, it has been rough for me, and my children and a lot of things have affected my children due to the lack of support and me only having so much time after work with them. Because of this program my son had rides back and forth to school and incentive to start doing better my son went from failing and truant to passing the 7th grade better attendance record and passing summer school. He is excited to go to school now and we're working on hopefully getting him into sports. When there wasn't food, this program brought us food when there wasn't enough money to do laundry there was a laundry card provided. Mrs. Jessica Young has been the representative on our case, and she has been absolutely amazing she has went above and beyond to make sure that any need that can be met is met and if she does not have the resource she finds a resource for me to be able to utilize to meet the need from our emotional to physical well-being I have to say at this point that as long as this program is running and as long as Jessica is working there that my family will stay connected as long as we are able to. Jessica is not only efficient at her job, but she has the right heart and emotional intelligence that truly makes a difference in people's lives. You can truly tell for her this is not about making money this is about her care and empathy for people and that right there is what truly makes a difference. Just knowing that somebody cares sometimes just makes it that much easier.

She has been a true blessing sent from God from the first day we met her. She has helped my son and I, in so many ways. Especially with his absenteeism improving, grades have elevated, and his emotional stability is a lot better. She has provided him with the necessary tools to strengthen him with getting to school on time, with city bus passes. She has sent toiletries and food to make sure his well-being was supported. Clothing that has certainly improved his wardrobe especially for church. She has also been there for me when I needed to vent. When times seemed to be overwhelming, she listened without prejudice. Instead, she was really attentive and always giving me solutions and checking up on us to make sure we were okay. Offering her assistance in any way possible, and always pushing herself to make deadlines, that would benefit my son and me.
I must say, she is really dedicated to her job, and it shows inside and out. Always doing her best to find a solution for any problems or concerns I presented her with. She has supported him with one-on-one talks and told him “She believed in him”. I could have not asked for a better caseworker. With her great efforts in supporting Ezekiel, I now tell him more often that “believe in him too”!
Without a doubt, this definitely was a season to remember, and I can truly say he is doing so much better; and is now off to a great start, in his freshman year at Durango High school. I’m truly grateful for her goodness and all she has done.
