With hands-on activities for tots, youth, and adults, Wetlands Art Day is an opportunity to express your creativity and connect to nature through art.

Plein Air Painting
Artists are welcome to check in beginning at 9 am and choose a location in the Wetlands Park Nature Preserve. Supplies not provided. Participating artists may submit pieces to be included in an Exhibit at the Wetlands Park Nature Center Gallery in May-July 2025. View and share a Call for Artists (PDF)

Plein Air Workshops
Free watercolor 40-minute workshops starting at 10:30 am, 11:45 am, and 1:00 pm.
Ages 12+. Space is limited, register at event entrance.

Originally from Puebla, Mexico, Bethsabee graduated from UPAEP (Universidad Popular Autónoma del Estado de Puebla) with a B.A in Graphic Design and Advertising Production. Inspired by her heritage, and as a self-taught artist, she is passionate about sharing her knowledge of art with others. She works with a number of different mediums such as photography, watercolor, acrylic, and gouache. Her work often incorporates elements of nature, animals, and plants.

Nevada, P.S. I Love You Postcard Project 
NV Humanities color

Join Nevada Humanities and create your own handmade postcard or flip book story.  Nevada artists and poets will be on hand throughout the day with their creative energy in helping you create a little art and write a poetic message about what you love about Nevada. Nevada P.S. Youth Art Workshop with Racheal Braley, “Roots”
Participants will create Zines and be encouraged to tell the story of their roots, how they grew into who they are and the support system that helped them to grow into who they are now. Presented by Clark County Public Arts.

Racheal Braley is a multidisciplinary artist and educator whose work explores the intersection of personal experience, ecological concerns, and creative expression. Originally from Texas, Racheal moved to Florida to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Studio Art from Florida State University. Now based in Clark County, Racheal is eager to engage with the local art scene and explore new opportunities for public art installations. With a passion for dynamic, interactive projects, she aims to encourage connection and reflection within the community while continuing her own artistic and professional growth.

Live Music with Ukulele Hero, Timothy Connolly
Ukulele Hero 5

Deaf since the age of 3, Timothy was a professional singer, bandleader, and music producer in New York City for 25 years before moving to Las Vegas in 2018 for new adventures in the great American west. While singing remains a talent of his, it is the strumming of ukuleles which has become his greener pastures. Using his Fender gear, he strums a thousand songs.

 Ocotillo Wind Quintet was formed in 2023 and is comprised of graduate students from UNLV and established   professionals/educators from the Las Vegas valley. They are excited to share their passion for music and education across Clark   County by performing at unique venues. Ocotillo is committed to celebrating the diversity of Las Vegas through thoughtful   programming and hopes to reach a wide audience through these innovative and collaborative performances. Members of Ocotillo   include Resilda Lala on flute, Taylor Crawford on oboe, Jonathan Cannon on clarinet, Liz Valvano on bassoon, and Matthew
 Keenan on horn.

The Nest Gallery features Nature Journaling works by 2024 Artist in Residence Morrigan DeVito, with works by prior Artists in Residence Myranda Bair and Fawn Douglas. 2025 Artist in Residence announcement coming soon!

Learn about all the plants and animals of Wetlands Park! Visit Science Stations, where guest scientists and naturalists will help you find and identify fish, bugs, plants, birds, and mammals. The Nature Center will feature lots of games and activities, too! 

The event includes observation of World Migratory Bird Day, coordinated annually by Environment for the Americas, which celebrates and brings attention to one of the most important and spectacular events in the Americas - bird migration.

All Activities are Free - No Advance Registration Required

BioBlast includes a celebration of World Migratory Bird Day, coordinated annually by Environment for the Americas to celebrate one of the most important and spectacular events in the Americas - bird migration.

LV_Science_Festival BioBlast is part of weeklong events of the Las Vegas Science & Technology Festival.

Agencies and organizations from around the valley will join us for this indoor event about all there is to do in the region during the summer. We’re bringing the outdoors in! Participants will enjoy crafts, games, and other activities including live animal encounters.
