A contractor for the Southern Nevada Water Authority (SNWA) has recently started maintenance work in the Las Vegas wash. Crews are clearing excess debris and overgrown vegetation in an effort to maintain and preserve a series of concrete and rip rap weir structures that slow and spread the flow of water in the wash to minimize damaging erosion. Work is expected to continue through February 2025. The contractor will be using earth moving equipment and dump trucks to remove and haul away the debris and invasive vegetation. Signage and flagging crews at pedestrian and bike path crossings will assist the recreating public as needed to navigate the affected areas during this time. Your safety is of utmost concern. Please exercise caution where crews and equipment are working in the area of the Las Vegas Wash between the Mile Marker 1 and Mile Marker 6. Posted January 22, 2025
