Clark County Increases Investment in Affordable Housing with Additional $30 Million

Today, Clark County approved over $30 million to support the construction and operation of affordable housing for extremely low-income residents in need of services and support. Through this comprehensive funding package, which incorporates Federal HUD HOME ARP dollars and County Welcome Home funds, Southern Nevada will receive new housing solutions for those most in need.

“The funding's strategic deployment will ensure that some of our most vulnerable residents receive not only shelter but also integrated support services essential for maintaining long-term housing security and improving overall quality of life” said Clark County Commissioner Chairman Tick Segerblom.

The approved funding will support a variety of projects including:

  • A significant portion of these funds will be used to build a 50-unit development geared specifically towards uplifting individuals transitioning from homelessness or at high risk of homelessness, as well as supporting other at-risk groups. This project is a partnership between George Gekakis, Inc. and HELP of Southern Nevada and will help provide case management and other services.
  • Coordinated Living of Southern Nevada (CLSN) received funding for services that will be provided at a 50-unit development for extremely low-income individuals with chronic mental illnesses. This project, in partnership with Mojave Health, will provide intensive case management and psychiatric services.
  • Nevada HAND's project will receive funding to build and rehab units at one of two Nevada's low-income assisted living facilities; along with additional support for Sunrise Ranch – a 144-unit project dedicated to serve youth aging out of foster care and other at-risk populations.

In addition to the significant investment of $30 million for supportive housing, the Board of County Commissioners has also ratified the allocation of more than $8.9 million in HUD HOME funds, destined for the construction of 629 affordable rental units for families, seniors, and the extremely low-income residents in need of service-enriched housing.

This initiative builds upon the County’s impactful investment in 2022, which already paved the way for the construction or rehabilitation of nearly 2,500 units, providing shelter for families, seniors, and disabled individuals in need of housing in Southern Nevada.

Since 2022, the County’s Welcome Home Community Housing Fund has invested approximately $200 million to support affordable housing development across the Las Vegas Valley. Project information can be found here: https://www.clarkcountynv.gov/residents/community_housing_fund/index.php
