The Clark County Fire Department is hosting a graduation ceremony on Thursday, June 20, to welcome a class of 58 new firefighters into its ranks. The ceremony will be held from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Westgate Las Vegas Resort and Casino, 3000 Paradise Road, in the International Theater.  The class is being dedicated to the memory of Clark County Deputy Fire Chief Warren Whitney, who passed away in December 2023.

Members of this Clark County Fire Department Fire Academy completed 20 weeks of classroom and field training that included learning the basic functions of the job that include pulling hoses, setting up ladders, ventilating structures during fires, and searching for victims within a structure. The class adopted the name “Highrise Reapers” and the motto: “Fall for none. Rise for all.” The graduates will be assigned to Clark County battalions throughout the Las Vegas Valley to respond to fires, accidents and other emergencies.

“We are proud to have this graduating class join our agency and become members of our Clark County Fire Department family,” said Clark County Fire Chief John Steinbeck. “Our recruits undergo rigorous training in our Fire Academy, and they are very well prepared to hit the ground running to serve our community.”

The Clark County Fire Department is the largest in the state and is responsible for protecting the famed Las Vegas Strip, the largest part of the Las Vegas Valley and a county the size of New Jersey at more than 8,000 square miles.
