Commissioner Jones to Open Battle Born Park in Southwest Las Vegas

Commissioner Jones to Open Battle Born Park in Southwest Las Vegas

Commissioner Jones is proud to announce the grand opening of Battle Born Park, located near Ries Elementary School and Tarkanian Middle School in southwest Clark County on Friday, October 25, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Activities will include a photo booth, face painting, balloon artists, dog vendors and sports activities. Plus, participants will be able to try food samples from local businesses.

Strategically located near two major schools, the park is expected to serve as a gathering place for students, families and residents, encouraging outdoor recreation and community engagement. Battle Born Park features a variety of amenities, including a playground, an open grassy area for picnics and sports, walking paths and shaded seating areas, an obstacle course and a splash pad.

With the assistance of local 4th-grade students from Ries Elementary School, the name “Battle Born Park” was selected. These students were invited to propose potential names for the new park, and “Battle Born” emerged as the favorite, reflecting Nevada’s proud nickname with the most entries.

"We listened to the community and knew there was a demand for more green spaces in this area. Battle Born Park reflects that, said Commissioner Jones. "This Park represents our commitment to creating a family-friendly environment where the community can come together and thrive. I am excited that Ries Elementary and Tarkanian Middle school students will have such a wonderful place just steps away."
