Public Invited to Attend Hanukkah Menorah Lighting Ceremony on Dec. 30

MenorahLighting 2024 - CopyResidents are invited to view a menorah lighting ceremony hosted by Clark County Commissioner Michael Naft in the rotunda of the Clark County Government Center in downtown Las Vegas at 500 S. Grand Central Parkway on Monday, Dec. 30, at 4:30 p.m. Rabbi Levi Harlig of Chabad of Southern Nevada also will take part.

“With the holiday season underway, please join us as we light the menorah to celebrate Hanukkah, the Festival of Lights, in Clark County,” said Commissioner Naft.  “Everyone is welcome to enjoy the celebration.”

The event also will include jelly donuts and latkes. Following the lighting of the 6th candle of the menorah, The Dancing Dreidels will perform. Anyone unable to attend in person may view the event on Facebook, Instagram and X using the handle @ClarkCountyNV or online at www.Facebook.com/ClarkCountyNV, www.Instagram.com/ClarkCountyNV  and www.X.com/ClarkCountyNV.

Hanukkah begins this year at sundown on Wednesday, Dec. 25, and continues through Thursday, Jan. 2. The The eight-day festival commemorates the rededication of the Temple in Jerusalem after a group of Jewish warriors defeated occupying Greek armies. It celebrates the triumph of light over darkness and spirituality over materiality.
