Clark County Celebrates Black History Month with Activities Throughout February
Clark County's Parks and Recreation department is thrilled to announce a series of events throughout February to celebrate Black History Month. These events are part of Clark County's ongoing commitment to highlight the cultural diversity and significant contributions of the Black community, both past and present.
Activities and events include:
- Every Tuesday in February from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., Culture Canvas Black History Workshop Series at the Cambridge Recreation Center
- February 6, 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., Taking Action: Revisiting the Causes and Effects of the 1969 Uprising in Las Vegas’s Historic Westside lecture at the Clark County Museum
- February 12, 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Senior Black History Month Luncheon at the Parkdale Recreation Center
- February 13, 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Hero’s in the 106 at the Dr. William U. Pearson Community Center
- February 20, 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., Seniors Celebrating Black History Month at the Whitney Recreation Center
- February 21, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Salon Hair Care 101 Field Trip to Plushed Hair Studios from the Whitney Recreation Center.
- February 21, 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Annual Black History Month Art Exhibition: The Mother’s Roots: An Afrodiasporic Vison at the Clark County Government Center Rotunda Gallery
- February 22, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Shades of the Black Experience: Celebrating African Americans in Labor at the Whitney Recreation Center
