Silver Copper Crossing Safety Installation Maintains Weekend Access
Beginning March 24 to April 3, Laughlin Parkway leading to the Silver Copper Crossing, the bridge linking Laughlin and Bullhead City, Ariz., will be closed to automobile traffic from Monday at 6 a.m. to Thursday, April 3, at 6 p.m. for some additional safety improvements. The bridge and adjacent roadways will reopen to serve weekend travel Thursday at 6 p.m. through Monday at 6 a.m. The project is estimated to take two weeks to complete.
Ten 200-foot emergency turnouts will be added to the existing 3.5-mile to Laughlin Pkwy, four for eastbound traffic and six for westbound traffic.
“Helping to ensure the safety of our residents and the traveling public is an important focus of mine,” said Clark County Commissioner Michael Naft. “We have consulted with Bullhead City, Arizona, to coordinate the impact on the region and look forward to the project being completed within the time frame.”
The Laughlin Pkwy road closure will start at Needles Highway, just north of the Fort Mojave Indian Reservation on the Nevada side, and extend across the bridge to Mohave Valley Highway, where it intersects with the Anderson Auto Group Field House on the Arizona side.
Motorists who must cross the river are encouraged to use the SR-163 bridge 8 miles north of Silver Copper Crossing. A third, privately maintained bridge 6 miles south of the project work area also connects Fort Mojave to Laughlin near the Avi Resort & Casino via Aztec Road.
