Lights on Welcome to Las Vegas Sign Go ‘Air Force Blue’ to Celebrate Aviation Nation 2025 Weekend
The lights on the iconic Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas sign will turn “Air Force blue” Tuesday, April 1 at 12:30 p.m. in recognition of Aviation Nation 2025, which will be held this weekend on April. 5 and 6.
Clark County Commissioner Marilyn Kirkpatrick, whose district includes the base, will be joined by Col. Jason J. Glynn, 99th Air Base Wing Commander, in turning the lights blue in a ceremony at the sign on the south end of the Las Vegas Strip.
“The Welcome Sign lighting up in blue symbolizes Clark County’s gratitude for the contributions of the men and women of Nellis Air Force Base,” said Clark County Commissioner Marilyn Kirkpatrick. “This year’s Aviation Nation Weekend not only highlights the incredible achievements of military aviation but also strengthens the bond between the United States Air Force and the Southern Nevada community.”
“Aviation Nation is a way to show our gratitude to this incredible community for its steadfast support. The lighting of the iconic Welcome to Las Vegas sign is as electrifying as Nellis Air Force Base. Team Nellis is excited to host our community partners at the air show and inspire the next generation of Airmen,” said Col. Jason J. Glynn, 99th Air Base Wing Commander.
Aviation Nation 2025 will include static displays, exhibits and aerial performances featuring the Thunderbirds, the legendary F-22A Raptor—the world’s most advanced fifth-generation fighter jet, and many more aircraft. Thousands of spectators are expected to attend this free event open to the public, making Aviation Nation a key outreach opportunity to engage and establish positive connections between the military and the local community. Additionally, fifth-generation aircraft performances are sure to excite spectators and put on display the U.S. Air Force’s superior capabilities and Nellis Air Force Base’s warfighter training mission.
