Clark County Continues to Invest in Affordable Housing with Additional $45.4 Million
On Tuesday, April 2, the Board of County Commissioners approved $45.4 million to support five new construction and rehabilitation projects for affordable housing units. Through the County’s Welcome Home, Community Housing Fund, Clark County will bring 590 new units into development and provide for the rehabilitation of 207 additional units in Laughlin, Nevada, prioritizing households most in need. The funds fill a critical funding gap for these projects.
The approved funding will primarily serve individuals and families earning 60% AMI (Area Median Income) or below, equating to household incomes of $57,000 annually or less. Notably, each development has committed to allocating at least 10% of units for households earning 30% AMI or below, targeting those at the deepest level of need, with incomes of $28,000 annually or less.
Additionally, the Board voted on the County’s HUD HOME awards for the 2025-2026 funding year. This will allocate an additional $5.5 million to support the rehabilitation or construction of 603 units across five developments.
“Our commitment to affordable housing remains strong. The investments made through the County’s Welcome Home Community Housing Fund are helping to expand access to affordable housing by focusing on incentivizing the development and rehabilitation of units that will help seniors, families, and our working community members who are priced out of the housing market,” said Clark County Commission Chairman Tick Segerblom. “The new round of $45.4 million investment translates to an economic impact of nearly $300 million dollars for our community, addressing the affordable housing shortage and ensuring safe, stable housing options for households at various income levels.”
On April 5, 2022, Welcome Home, Clark County’s Community Housing Fund (CHF) was created to address the urgent housing need for low-income residents – families, seniors, and those who are employed, but unable to find affordable housing. Since then, Clark County has made a truly historic investment and has approved over $230 million to support the construction and rehabilitation of a total of 5,000 units for affordable housing units. The funds are dedicated to help support low-income residents and families in Southern Nevada.
