District Attorney Family Support Sets a New National Record
Clark County DA Family Support Division (DAFS) is responsible for 59% of Nevada’s child support enforcement program caseload, managing over 45,000 cases. In Federal Fiscal Year 2021, DAFS collected an impressive $87,142,908.00.
“I commend the tireless efforts of our DAFS division,” said District Attorney Steve Wolfson. “They continue to ensure children in Clark County and beyond receive the support they need and deserve. This ranking is a direct reflection of their commitment to improving the lives of children and families.”
DA Family Support is one of four divisions within the District Attorney’s Office and has over 300 dedicated employees. DAFS employees account for almost half the personnel in the District Attorney’s Office.
“This last year presented an opportunity to expand best practices and implement innovative strategies. We extended customer service hours, improved customer participation in court hearings through remote appearances, and strengthened outreach partners to ensure parents have access to employment resources” said DAFS Director Karen Cliffe.
The national ranking considers five different categories: Paternity Establishment, Order Rate, Current Support, Arrears, and Cost Effectiveness. In addition to their stellar overall ranking, Nevada is also ranked 3rd in the nation for Paternity Establishment.
