Recorder's Office Selected as Finalist for Good Government Award
The Clark County Recorder’s Office Information Technology Unit was selected as one of the five finalists for the 24th Annual Nevada Taxpayer’s Association (NTA) “Cashman Good Government Award.” The NTA is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization founded in 1922 and has earned a reputation for thorough, credible, objective and comprehensive analysis and advocacy focused on fiscal, regulatory, and tax policies. The NTA Cashman Good Government Award was established in 1997 to recognize superior stewardship of taxpayer dollars by government employees and/or agencies.
The NTA selected the Clark County Recorder’s Office as a finalist for the “Good Government Award” for the design, development and implementation of the Remote Multipurpose Interactive Recording Kiosk. The objective of the kiosk is to offer constituents a quick, user-friendly mechanism to retrieve certified and non-certified copies, and to record land records from a remote, stand-alone location while interacting with a Deputy Recorder in real-time. One of these kiosks is currently located in Laughlin, and it has provided the constituents a more convenient way to access and record their documents without having to drive all the way to the Clark County Government Center in Las Vegas.
The kiosk was strategically developed to allow multiple County departments to integrate their services in a “one-stop shop”. Because of this proactive design, the County Clerk’s Office has been using a kiosk since 2015 to provide certified copies of marriage certificates. The County Treasurer’s Office is now using a kiosk to receive and process tax payments. The Recorder’s Office is currently collaborating with the County Business License department to develop a kiosk to support the business license application process. The Recorder’s Office has six more kiosks in production for additional Commission districts. “As we continue to roll out new technology, our goal is to make our services user-friendly for all constituents,” said Debbie Conway, County Recorder.
In notable recognition of this honor, the Clark County Commission will acknowledge the Recorder’s Office as one of the five finalists for the NTA award at its May 17 Commission meeting. Also, U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto presented Recorder Conway and the Clark County Recorder’s Office IT team with a Certificate of Commendation to celebrate the distinguished achievement.
