Commissioner, Community Celebrate Opening of After Market Grocery Store
Clark County Commissioner Marilyn Kirkpatrick is joining community partners to celebrate the grand opening of The After Market grocery store at 4437 N. Las Vegas Blvd., off Craig Road near Nellis Air Force Base. A ribbon cutting will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 13. The store opens to the public following the ceremony.
The store, founded and operated by The Foundation Christian Center, is a hybrid supermarket that includes a retail grocery store and food pantry operation. The 4,000-square-foot facility is located near the former location of a Walmart store that closed in 2016. About 20 percent of The After Market’s operation is a food pantry that will be supported by donations.
“It’s very exciting to welcome The After Market to a neighborhood that hasn’t had a grocery store for several years,” said Commissioner Kirkpatrick. “Best of all this truly is a community enterprise. The retail store operates like any grocery store while the pantry allows people with limited incomes to get what they need for little or no cost, so they have the dignity to pay what they can afford.”
District B residents are encouraged to sign up to receive Commissioner Kirkpatrick’s free email newsletter via the County’s website at www.ClarkCountyNV.gov to find out about more community events.
