Family Reunification & Assistance Center Opened at Las Vegas Convention Center
In response to the shooting that occurred on UNLV’s campus, Clark County has activated its Multi-Agency Coordination Center (MACC) to help coordinate the community’s response to the situation.
Clark County emergency management officials have set up a Family Reunification and Assistance Center at the Las Vegas Convention Center North Hall 1 and 2 off Convention Center Drive and Paradise Road. Parents and family members looking for loved ones who may be on the UNLV campus are encouraged to go to the center to reconnect with loved ones. Counseling, food, transportation, housing and other supportive services also are available. Those not able to get to the location, can call (702) 455-AIDE (2433) for assistance. Information also is available at www.facofsouthernnevada.org. Efforts are in progress to transport those who are on campus to the convention center to provide assistance. The center is being staffed by personnel from Clark County’s Social Services and Family Services Departments, the Clark County Fire Department’s Office of Emergency Management, the Vegas Strong Resiliency Center, UNLV Student Services, the Mexican consulate and other agencies.
“Our hearts go out to students, faculty, staff and family members of anyone in our community who has been impacted by this violence,” said Clark County Commission Chairman Jim Gibson. “Clark County is working with multiple agencies to help coordinate our response to this emergency and we are doing everything we can to assist anyone who has been affected.”
